Stencil Graffiti Capital

There has been a bit of talk lately about our older works, with a few questionable auctions and a digging through out own archives of photos it’s nice to see where it all started.
You may remember the monumental book ‘Stencil Graffiti Capital’. This book really solidified what were doing back in the early 2000′s.
Jake Smallman has just emailed me with news that he has a few of the Hard-to-find hard cover editions of the book that he has on sale:
————-
Stencil Graffiti Capital: Melbourne. It’s on sale for $35 (previously $55).

We own the night- Collectors Edtion

Some time in the last 18 months Meggs and myself were lucky enough to be part of this Underbelly project, now thanks to the hard work of those involved there is a book that captures the entire project:

Collector’s Edition of We Own the Night: The Art of The Underbelly Project Sold Online Exclusively Through Vandalog

book_photo_box_copy.jpg

Vandalog is excited to announce the exclusive online sale of We Own the Night: The Art of The Underbelly Project through The Vandalog Shop. Originally sold at The Underbelly Project Show at the recent Miami Art Basel, the remaining collector’s editions will be sold online for the first time exclusively through Vandalog.

The We Own the Night: The Art of The Underbelly Project collector’s edition package includes a hard cover book along with 9 unreleased photos packaged in a handcrafted oak box engraved with the names of each artist that contributed to the project. Each box is laser engraved with the individual number from the edition of only 100 plus 10 artist’s proofs. The photographic prints include depictions of work by Roa, Anthony Lister, Skullphone, Kid Zoom, Revok, Ceaze, Jeff Soto, and more. The package is priced at $250 plus shipping and handling and is availabl

Documenting The Underbelly Project’s first underground takeover, We Own the Night is a must have for any street art fan. From 2009 – 2010, over 100 artists were taken to a disused subway station in New York City where street artists, graffiti writers and contemporary artists alike left their creative mark on the station before the entrance was sealed. Among the international group of participating artists included Ron English, Dabs & Myla, Swoon, Haze, Rone, Meggs and Faile.

RJ Rushmore says “The Underbelly Project is one of the most fascinating projects to ever happen in the street art or graffiti worlds. While there are photos all over the web showing what the project looked liked, reading We Own the Night is just about the only way to get a sense of what it was actually like to participate in The Underbelly Project. I saw The Underbelly Project in the flesh, but hearing other people’s stories shed new light on it even for me. I’m extremely pleased that The Vandalog Shop will be selling the collector’s edition of We Own the Night, giving people who couldn’t make it to Basel Miami a chance to pick up a copy. My copy of We Own the Night was the best thing I’ve received under a Christmas tree in years, and I hope other people will enjoy the book and the photographs as much as I do. To be able to stock products as unique and exciting as this is a large part of why I started The Vandalog Shop.”

Walls & Frames Book – Meggs

Stoked to be included in Gasetalten’s new book ‘Walls & Frames’ alongside a long list of artist I admire!
Each artist was also asked to produce 2 handpainted limited edition covers which will be exhibited at ‘Walls & Frames’ launch parties, hosted at Gestalten Space Berlin on December 1st and at Pictures on Walls London on December 8th.
Preview image of my hand painted, stencilled and screenprinted cover collages below. – Meggs.

“Walls & Frames is a cutting-edge collection of recent work by young artists who are moving from the street into galleries. These ambitious talents are keeping their connection to the street alive while establishing themselves in the art market with work in traditional formats such as painting, sculpture, installation, and prints. The book shows how artists, who work with limited time and a small selection of tools on the street, are developing other styles, concepts, and techniques in the studio that are, in turn, influencing the direction of contemporary art.”

Graffiti 365

Iv’e seen so many graffiti books over the years that have been put together by fans or cheap buck publishers rather than people who really know there stuff. So i’m really stoked to hear good things about this book Graffiti 365 which has been put together by people in the know.

I’m yet to get my hands on a copy but I’m pretty sure Phibs & I get a photo or two in there.

You can grab it here

Somehow we made it

a 10 hour drive turned into a 30 hour nightmare for Makatron and Prizm

It was a photo finish, the whole show was set up in 2 hours. Even the beer just made it right on the minute the doors opened.

Thanks to everyone who came down to the Sydney book launch.

We’ll be posting some photos as soon as they come in.
