Stolen Space – VII . London

Stolen Space has just opened their new gallery space in London.

Reka, TwoOne & Myself were lucky enough to contribute to the amazing line-up of artists.

Full details & pics below

Group Show

12.07.13 – 28.07.13

With a bit of luck, and a lot of talent, StolenSpace has entered its 7th year as London’s primary authority in Contemporary Urban Art. Having started to feel the 7-year itch for bigger and better projects and exhibitions, we have made the exciting decision to move to a new venue:

17 Osborn Street

London E1 6TD

Our new 1400 sq ft gallery space, steeped in local history as it was once a stonemason’s workshop, is still within the vibrant creative hub of East London’s Brick Lane and The Old Truman Brewery. So although we have itchy feet we haven’t moved too far!

In this year’s 7th month, we are feeling very fortunate for our past successes and exciting new beginnings, therefore, for the premier exhibition at StolenSpace’s new home, we would like to introduce a Group Show, ‘VII,’ inspired by this lucky and symbolic number.

Whether or not you are of a superstitious persuasion, the number 7 carries with it a myriad of significant connotations. Since the beginning of time, this number has held a powerful place in theological, historical, scientific and cultural memory. According to the Old Testament, the Earth was created in 7 days, in Hinduism there are 7 Chakras, in Christianity there are 7 deadly sins, in Islam there are 7 levels in heaven, and in Judiasm there are 7 blessings and 7 days of mourning. Furthermore, there are 7 days in a week, 7 colours in a rainbow, 7 seas, and 7 wonders of the world. A recurrent motif in art and literature, this number signifies Shakespeare’s 7 Ages of Man and the 7 notes in a traditional musical scale. The associations go on and on, and the potential for creative investigation is almost endless.

On 11th July 2013, StolenSpace will open its brand new doors to the public with ‘VII,’ a group show exhibiting longstanding favorites and fresh newcomers. With tasty refreshments courtesy of Gordon Ramsay’s Bread Street Kitchen, we would like to extend a warm welcome to our new location, inviting you to share in this celebration of our lucky 7th year.

Mural Festival – Montreal

I’m lucky to have been invited to the first Mural Festival in Montreal. Great Line up of artists including Escif, Pixel Pancho, Phlem, Roa, Gaia, Other to name a few. Over 20 different walls are getting painted in the same district. Also a big Street party over the next week. More photos to come…

MURAL will muster over 35 local and international artists over 2 km of open-air market on Saint-Laurent Boulevard, closed to traffic for the occasion. The festival will showcase the creation of near 20 unique murals which will redefine the Main’s image for the next year. Every night during the festival, a special event will be held that will enable attendees to gather in a different location in order to continue the creative celebrations.

As an international public art festival bound to the celebration of creativity and the democratisation of urban art, MURAL will transform for a week the Saint-Laurent Boulevard into a real open-air museum where local and international artists will unite their talents in the most creative manners.

Unique rendezvous to the American North East, the annual event gathers the visual arts avant-garde in order to consecrate Montreal as an essential artistic pole in North America.’

Blondes have more fun

In Denmark it’s pretty accurate. It took me far too long to paint this wall. Not because of the size or the challenging dimensions of the building, but the typical Aalborg weather. A lot like Melbourne actually- 4 seasons in 1 day. To put it short it was raining every day.
This mural was part of my exhibition at Galerie Wolfsen which was a big success. I will be doing a recap of the exhibition shortly… when i have time. (which seems never at the moment)
Thanks to all the crazy Danes I met…and I thought us Aussies can drink. wow.

Aalborg, Denmark

First day I managed to paint a quick wall at one of the hall of fame spots next to about 8 Swet pieces in a row.
Aalborg doesn’t have much murals so the locals were very curious of what was happening to their city.

before leaving to Denmark I managed to to fit in a another wall in Dulwich, ed South London. This abandoned house apparently is meant to be knocked down in a year. A few other artists also joined me including Roa, click Shok-1, Run to name a few. I managed to climb on the roof for this nice spot. Maybe no one will ever see it. maybe not…
