Mural Festival – Montreal

Last week I finished my largest wall to date in Montreal. I was invited to take part in Montreal’s first Mural Festival.

It took me 1 week to paint an 8 storey building in Saint Laurent Bvld. in the heart of the downtown area. Check the website for all the other artists walls that were completed over this week.

Mural Festival – Montreal

I’m lucky to have been invited to the first Mural Festival in Montreal. Great Line up of artists including Escif, Pixel Pancho, Phlem, Roa, Gaia, Other to name a few. Over 20 different walls are getting painted in the same district. Also a big Street party over the next week. More photos to come…

MURAL will muster over 35 local and international artists over 2 km of open-air market on Saint-Laurent Boulevard, closed to traffic for the occasion. The festival will showcase the creation of near 20 unique murals which will redefine the Main’s image for the next year. Every night during the festival, a special event will be held that will enable attendees to gather in a different location in order to continue the creative celebrations.

As an international public art festival bound to the celebration of creativity and the democratisation of urban art, MURAL will transform for a week the Saint-Laurent Boulevard into a real open-air museum where local and international artists will unite their talents in the most creative manners.

Unique rendezvous to the American North East, the annual event gathers the visual arts avant-garde in order to consecrate Montreal as an essential artistic pole in North America.’

Blondes have more fun

In Denmark it’s pretty accurate. It took me far too long to paint this wall. Not because of the size or the challenging dimensions of the building, but the typical Aalborg weather. A lot like Melbourne actually- 4 seasons in 1 day. To put it short it was raining every day.
This mural was part of my exhibition at Galerie Wolfsen which was a big success. I will be doing a recap of the exhibition shortly… when i have time. (which seems never at the moment)
Thanks to all the crazy Danes I met…and I thought us Aussies can drink. wow.

Rone – Vanuatu, 2013

There was no real plan to this I just asked if I could paint this wall and I thought it would be great to get the kids to help. I marked up the outlines and was surrounded by the local kids so I gave them paint brushes and put them to work.

It was hectic with so many people to paint the same thing but it was an incredible opportunity to meet and work with people from a different culture.

Word spread fast about the wall and at one stage we had 50+ people watching us paint, stuff even the local paper came down.

Thanks to everyone I met, and a special thanks to all those who helped:

Reka – “A push in the right direction” – Wynwood Cigar Factory, NW 24th st

My 4th and final installation of my painting frenzy in Wynwood for Miami Art Basel 2012.Completed one week apart, Dal East and myself collaborated on this large wall at the Wynwood Cigar Factory located on NW24th st between North Miami ave and NW 2nd ave. It was very easy to decide what to do from Dal’s crashed car. Very different styles but it works! Time to enjoy Basel and get my drink on… maybe even go to the beach!
My Ride during Basel… I wish!

Reka – “No strings attached” – SE 26th st & NE 2nd ave

My 3rd installment of walls completed in Wynwood for Miami Art Basel 2012. A very hard location to paint…. not just the size either. Luckily the owners were nice enough to hire a mammoth boom 50 ft boom lift! One of my largest murals to date. This wall can be found on the corner of SE 26th st & NE 2nd ave. Enjoy…

Reka – “Abandoned but not lost” – NE 22nd & Nth Miami ave

Sorry for the lack of posting on my behalf….
Miami Basel and all the shenanigans that came with it got the best of me.
This is the second wall I completed during Basel in Wynwood. Located near the corner of NE 22nd st and North Miami ave. It was a challenging wall to paint with the amount of windows, here doors and other characteristics on the 2 storey building. It was a challenge to say the least. Buildings like this are attractive for me to paint as it makes me think how I can use these wall characteristics to my advantage. Here is the result:

Paul’s Carpets. Wynwood MIAMI

My first wall completed on NW 23rd st. in Wynwood Miami, during Art Basel.
Paul’s carpet is the best carpet in Miami. Mention me you will get sweet mates rates!
Happy thanks giving. I ate way too much.

Ups and Downs in New York City

Its been a crazy time in New York the last 3 weeks. Hurricane Sandy had definitely made a mess of things. The NYC metro system came to a halt, online half the city was without power, no hot water and the streets were filled with rubbish and fallen trees from the storm. It had changed quite a few plans of mine, however I was still able to get some work done and paint a few nice walls in Brooklyn.
This wall I completed on the weekend in Bushwick. I managed to get a wall right next to the Jefferson st. Subway on the L line. Great location.
My next post should be in a sunnier Miami. Stay tuned.

Bushwick 5 Points

I have been painting a series of portraits of Hurricane Sandy, help after experiencing its force and devastation it left in the last 2 weeks.
This wall is in 5 Points in Bushwick. New York. An area in Brooklyn that has a serious make over in the last 6 months. A great area for street art with its large industrial structures and old factories
I have started my third wall yesterday in Brooklyn continuing with the theme, cialis sale however after todays snow storm I might not be back painting until the weekend. New York weather- very unpredictable.

The flight path to the JFK airport is directly about this area. It made a good night shot.

This was painted on a hall of fame wall with the likes of Wane, look Yes, sovaldi Dabs&Myla, buy Clark, Never, Cope2, Shank and the list goes on…
This is my portrait of you Sandy. You BITCH
